FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Q?

How do I purchase your travel insurance?

A.

Purchasing a travel insurance policy from Trip Guardian starts with a quote. Select the type of travel insurance policy that will best suit your needs. Select the number of people in your party, the destination zone (Europe, Worldwide, AU and NZ) and the period of time you need coverage for. Once selected, simply get a quote and select the policy type you need.

Q?

Can I buy travel insurance if I am not a UK resident?

A.

Yes, depending on the insurer you get your quote from. Some of the insurance providers we work with offer coverage for both UK residents and citizens of countries in the EU, as well as passport holders from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

Q?

Can I cancel my travel insurance?

A.

The terms of policy cancellation may differ depending on the insurance provider of choice, however most of the insurers we work with provide a cooling-off period of usually 14 days in which refunds are available. The policyholder is entitled to cancellation only for a genuine reason and only after returning the documents. After the cooling-off period has expired there will be no refunds.

Q?

When should I purchase travel insurance?

A.

The best time to purchase a travel insurance policy is immediately after the first payment for your holiday. Purchasing an insurance policy early on will offer you the benefit of trip cancellation coverage. Trip cancellation will only be covered however for a covered reason such as a medical emergency. In the case of a single trip policy the cancellation coverage will start the day you make the first payment for the policy. In the case an annual multi trip policy the coverage will come into effect when the policy starts.

Q?

Can the coverage be extended whilst abroad?

A.

The coverage extension feature depends on the insurance provider you choose to purchase from. For example, Globelink does provide the option to extend the coverage while already on a trip but for this feature the policyholder must contact the provider by phone. Also the additional coverage must be purchased before the original coverage period ends.
